The Band

The seeds of The Philtre Shades were planted in 1995 when Teddy Lance & Clemens Schedl met in a UCLA songwriting class.  They felt an immediate connection and began writing songs together.  Influenced by the Seattle grunge movement, they performed around Los Angeles as Philtre Blue.  Sony and Warner Brothers both expressed interest and the band gained momentum.  In 1997, the duo had a falling out and Clemens returned home to Austria the following year.  Years passed and the two lost touch.  Clemens built a music studio in his basement and became a proficient music engineer.  In 2016, after almost twenty years, he and Teddy reconnected.  They decided to finish what they started.  With the advent of music software their 6,000-mile separation was no longer an obstacle.  Clemens laid down the instrumentals and arrangements in Austria while Teddy recorded vocals at Clear Lake Recording Studios in Los Angeles.  Clemens then remixed the tracks and added vocal effects.  Final mixing and mastering was completed at Clear Lake.  The collaboration was seamless and Philtre Blue was reborn as The Philtre Shades.  Their current EP is culled from two decades of their songwriting collaboration.
They continue to record music and plan on releasing a full-length album in 2020.
